Today I was scrolling through Facebook looking for something to entertain me while I decided if I should nap or go eat, always a difficult decision. While scrolling through the hilarious drama on Facebook I started thinking about all of the ridiculous posts people put out there about their personal lives. There is nothing quite like an emotional break down on Facebook to get me rolling in laughter! I suddenly thought of my friend Paul who always makes me laugh and through the years has lifted many darkest days with his comic relief and our inside jokes. He is, undeniably, one of the funniest people I have ever met.
Paul and I have this little joke where we refer to each other as Whitney and CeCe, as in Whitney Houston(God rest her soul) and CeCe Winans. This has gone on for years. To this day, in a normal phone conversation he will call me CeCe. It is a bond of sisterhood that will never be broken. (I’m chuckling to myself as I write this.) One of our favorite video clips is of CeCe Winans and Sister Perri Reid(aka 90’s dance diva Pebbles) praying “on” Whitney Houston. A few moments ago I posted this clip on Facebook and he has already commented, “I AM one of the Kingdom’s children(points)”.
Let me make this very clear: We are not making fun of anyone’s spirituality or the power of prayer. Trust us, if we could dial up God and snatch Miss Whitney back, we would! For us, it is just something that cracks us up and always has! But while watching a video of Miss Perri Reid back to back with a video from her old days as Pebbles, I was entirely transfixed by the power of transformation. If Pebbles, er Perri, can change, why can’t everyone else? It makes me wonder what she could have achieved if she had gone to church a lot sooner. Oh well, I guess we’ll never know. But it’s still worth a good laugh and motivation to “plant seed”.
Check out the videos and see the transformation. By the way, CeCe Winans is one of the most phenomenal women in the world. She would never post half of the trash you girls with duck lips do! Maybe use her as motivation. Just saying! God bless!
